Qualifying events are peppering the calendar, and 200 skydivers recently set a new California State Record (CSR) – see the contents page for photos. This beat the previous 181-way set by the girls at Jump For The Cause in 2009. Having got the completion, they then attempted a 2-point skydive which would have been a new sequential World Record but was a couple of grips short each time.
The next big event on the calendar will be held in February 2012 in Dubai and will be a 253-way trial run of the main event. It will be an opportunity to test personal oxygen systems, aircraft and much more, a full year ahead of the planned 500-way in 2013. The UK is currently the third highest in nations applying, with eight per cent of the applications! Most popular is USA at 28 per cent, then nine per cent Russian Federation. After us are France, Canada and Australia all at six per cent.
